East Haven: Defending former Police Chief of East Haven against alleged civil rights violations, assigned to Judge Janet Arterton. Possible criminal indictment. USA vs. 51 Parcels: Forfeiture action brought against large number of properties in New Haven whose owners had a relationship with a defendant in a mortgage fraud indictment. Several dismissals already obtained. Flood vs. Roanoke Community College: Defending community college against alleged civil rights violations, assigned to Judge Dominick Squatrito. USA v.s Ionia Management: Represented witness who was awarded $550,000.00 who testified as ship’s engineer against oil tanker which dumped oil sludge into Atlantic Ocean. USA v. One Medley Lane : Federal forfeiture action brought to seize family home after husband was growing marijuana in the basement. Three week Jury trial before Judge Mark Kravitz. Appeal taken to 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals. Berman v. JKH Holding, Co., LLC : Class action transferred from Connecticut to federal court on unfair Trade Act claims against debt collector. Case before Judge Janet B. Arterton. TCI v. Aietro : Appealed to 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals after trial by Judge Alvin Thompson on issue of damages and attorney’s fees on violation of Cable TV Franchising Act. Gyadu v. Waterbury : Federal Jury trial of civil rights action on police brutality claims before Judge Janet B. Arterton. Connecticut Truck & Trailer Parts, LLC v. Mack Truck, Inc .: Court trial before Judge Dominick Squattrito on claims of violations of Connecticut Franchising Act, transferred to U.S. District Court. Estate of David Mills v. Hamden: Death caused by police use of taser. Pending before Judge John Droney. O’Donnell v. Bridgeport: Defense of police sergeant charged with sexual harassment. Pending before Judge Janet Hall. Representative Connecticut Civil CasesDoe v. Maynard: Representing minor and his family in a civil action for damages stemming from a juvenile arrest for sexual assault during a New Year’s Eve Party. Also represented the juvenile in the criminal proceedings. Solomon v. City of Waterbury . Jury verdict of $1.2 million in Connecticut Superior Court on drowning of 18 year old boy at local reservoir. Plass v. General Accident Insurance Co .: Death of 35 year old engineer, settled for $1.3 million after automobile accident on I-95 in Connecticut Superior Court. Schwartz v. Barron : Case on complex litigation docket in Connecticut Superior Court involving fraud, violation of fiduciary obligations, and breach of contract among partners in business transaction. Kishkiel v. Gwiazda : Trial for injunctive relief and appeal to Connecticut Supreme Court on distribution of assets to heirs in foreign countries. Leading case on Powers of Attorney in Connecticut. Ruotolo v. Estate of Swanson : Probate appeal and subsequent appeals to Connecticut Appellate Court and Connecticut Supreme Court involving will interpretation issues. Yuang v. New Haven : Jury trial on injuries to bicyclist due to hole in City street in front of City Hall. Berg v. Hamden Hall : Spectator injured by participants to high school football game.
